See a young student of Chinese origin navigate the streets of Melbourne for the first time. He comes across people of various cultural backgrounds and sees the landmarks of Melbourne. The story is the student’s search for accommodation and captures how it can be a little disorienting for freshly arrived people even in a city as friendly as Melbourne.
We have decided to tell the story only using still images. We intend to treat them and put them together. We also want to use sound and text to convey the story and try to capture the environment and express the thoughts and emotions of the characters.
Some of the locations we intend to show are Southern Cross Station, Southbank, Flinders Street Station, Melbourne Central and China Town.
The images we capture will be edited in After Effects or Photoshop and transformed into a painting/graphic look to capture the dreamy nature of a freshly arrived students experience of Melbourne.
